FAIRVIEW, Ore. Volatile homemade bombs may have been placed in or around parks located in East Multnomah County, according to police who wanted to spread a warning Wednesday.

These so called Drano Bombs are usually made in plastic drinking bottles, explained Fairview Chief of Police Ken Johnson. When picked up or moved, a chemical reaction takes place that can cause severe heat and an explosion that can injure or kill.

He warned people not to pick up any suspicious looking plastic bottles. Children and pets should also be watched closely in the area parks, so they don t touch the homemade bombs.

The bombs were described as being made out of plastic bottles with a cap on top. They would have liquid inside and may also contain aluminum foil.

Anyone who spots a plastic bottle matching this description was urged to call Fairview police at is (503) 823-3333.

Along with the parks, investigators believe yards and driveways of private homes may have also been targeted.

If you see a suspicious looking plastic bottle and it is smoking, move away quickly and call 9-1-1, Johnson added.
