President Joe Biden dropped out of the 2024 presidential race on July 21 and quickly threw his support behind Vice President Kamala Harris.

In the days following Biden’s endorsement, Harris officially kicked off her campaign for president, raising more than $130 million primarily from small donors, according to a New York Times report.

Multiple social media posts claim Beyoncé and Taylor Swift are planning to host a joint concert to fundraise for Harris’ presidential campaign.

“Beyoncé and Taylor Swift could be joining forces to host a fundraising concert for Vice President Kamala Harris following her entry into the Presidential race,” one post said.

Recent online search trends show many people are wondering if there is any truth to these claims.

WHAT WE FOUND

There is no evidence Beyoncé and Taylor Swift are hosting a joint concert to fundraise for Vice President Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign despite viral social media claims.

Neither Grammy Award-winning artist has announced a concert in honor of the Harris campaign on their official websites or social media accounts, nor have any legitimate media outlets confirmed a concert is actually happening.

On July 23, UKdiscoverer, a website commonly known for posting fake news articles and misinformation, published an article with the headline: “Breaking News: Beyoncé and Taylor Swift to Host Monumental Fundraising Concert in Support of Kamala Harris.” 

UKdiscoverer’s article claimed the “star-studded” fundraising concert would take place in Los Angeles’s SoFi Stadium with rumors of appearances by other major artists, including Billie Eilish, Ariana Grande, Jay-Z and Kendrick Lamar.

VERIFY scanned SoFi Stadium’s website and found no mention of a joint concert for Harris on its upcoming events calendar ahead of the election in November. 

The article also alleged that Beyoncé and Swift expressed their excitement about the concert in a joint statement that read:

“We believe in the power of music to bring people together and drive change. This concert is our way of using our platforms to support a leader who is dedicated to making a positive impact on our country. We are thrilled to bring our fans together for a night of incredible music and unity in support of Kamala Harris.”

As of July 25, neither Beyoncé nor Swift have officially endorsed Harris for president.

However, Beyoncé did give Harris permission to use her song “Freedom” for her presidential campaign, according to news reports. Harris used the song in her first official campaign ad, which was released on July 25.

Meanwhile, Swift previously showed her support for Harris in 2020 after she accepted the nomination for vice president.

VERIFY reached out to Beyoncé’s management company Parkwood Entertainment, Swift’s publicist and UKdiscoverer for comment but did not hear back by the time of publication.
